Description
This blended herbal medicine course is the distillation of decades of herbal experience and is intended to give you the best start on your journey in herbal medicine – a journey that I hope you will continue for the rest of your life.
The course consists of a series of online lessons, which I have designed to give you comprehensive theoretical knowledge of over 70 herbs, the systems of the body, and treatment of common ailments, coupled with eight days of practical workshops at my clinic in the Cotswolds. Here I will introduce you personally to the herbs we are studying, teach you how to identify and sustainably collect them, and provide you with a grounding in the skills of herbal preparations and medicine making so that you will be able use these herbs with confidence in your everyday life.
As your guide on this journey, I will delight in introducing you to the healing power of plants, bringing the knowledge and experience that I have gleaned from over four decades of practice as a medical herbalist and Ayurvedic practitioner. I have taken care to break this journey of learning and exploration down into simple lessons and hope that it will enable you to gain deeper insights into the nature of what it is to be human and how to live in harmony with the natural world around you, so that you can maximise your health and wellbeing.
Course Description
The online lessons are available from February 2025 and there are three practical workshops held here at Artemis House on the following dates:

The lessons and workshops are designed to be studied in sequence and new material will be available to you at the beginning of each month from February 2025 until the end of the course. The lessons can be studied at your own pace, whenever it suits you and fits in with your life, and students can join the course up until the first practical workshop in May. We do ask that students have completed the current online lessons before each workshop to allow the group to progress together.
The online lessons each cover:

- The active constituents of herbs and their tastes (looking at one taste in each lesson)
- The systems of the body (enhancing the health of one system in each lesson)
- Treating common ailments of the system being studied
- Monographs of herbs (including some to support the system being studied) building to a collection of 70 herbs by the end of the course
- The still room – skills and techniques to prepare herbal medicines
- Practical exercises – this will mostly focus on creating your own herbarium, a collection of plants you have foraged, dried, stored and researched
- Recipes associated with the systems and/or herbs discussed that lesson
The Practical Workshops
During the workshops we will have time get to know the herbs in person and to discuss what we have covered in the online lessons. We will also have practical medicine making sessions when you will make all the herbal preparations described, so that you will confident about trying them out for yourself once you are home.
The days include refreshments and a delicious vegetarian lunch, plus the opportunity to shop for Anne’s books and herbal remedies in the dispensary.
